Ms. Kera Swift-Josey, BHS, COTA/L

Ms. Kera Swift-Josey is a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in the suburbs of the Philadelphia area, who has worked in Pediatrics for over 18 years. She has had the pleasure of working with children in Early Intervention, preschool, outpatient, and mental health settings. She also enjoys sharing her knowledge while teaching two Pediatric courses and a Mental Health course in the Thomas Jefferson University OTA program. Kera’s passion is mentoring students and sharing her expertise with families. She has mentored over 30 fieldwork students and hopes to continue to mentor them in the future. Her philosophy is education should be fun and applicable. She wants each student to feel confident and prepared to enter the field of OT. While in academia, she has also had the opportunity to build various course curricula and is currently taking courses to receive her higher education online teaching certification. In addition to mentoring students and practitioners, she has assisted with strategies and tools to help students successfully pass the NBCOT® exam. She has also created several exams around the NBCOT® exam to help students feel comfortable with the formatting of questions and to use the tools to break down each question. Kera is an active member of the American Occupational Therapy Association and the COTA representative for the Pennsylvania Occupational Therapy Association District V board. Lastly, her favorite occupations are spending time with her son, family, and friends, traveling, going to church, and meeting new people. She is looking forward to helping you prosper on your journey of being an OT/OTA in the amazing field of OT.
